Theo Walcott believes Gervinho is emerging as the perfect summer signing.

The Ivorian international has settled well in the Premier League since his move from French champions Lille, scoring twice and grabbing seven assists in his 13 appearances for the Club so far.

Walcott and Gervinho have helped provide ammunition for Robin van Persie’s incredible goalscoring run - and the England man says his new team-mate will prove to be a big asset for the team.

“He's been fantastic this season,” Walcott told Arsenal.com.

“Obviously [English football] is totally different to what he's used to playing but now he is playing week in week out in the Premier League, which is very physical, and he is showing his qualities.

“He has still got a lot to learn and he knows that - but you can start to see that Gervinho is going to be the right type of player for Arsenal.”

Walcott has also praised the man who operates just behind him on the pitch - Carl Jenkinson.

“He is doing very well,” said Walcott. “I don't think he thought he would be playing quite this much but Carl's got in there and he always wants to learn, which is great to see.

“He's eager, he wants to perform and he is getting better every game now. I think the game against West Brom a couple of weeks ago was his best game for us.

“He's got bags of confidence at the moment, all the lads are encouraging him and it's showing in his performances.”
