Theo Walcott has dedicated Arsenal's thrilling FA Cup win to the Club's fans - and he admits it was slightly overdue.
Arsène Wenger's side have endured a difficult start to 2012 and some home supporters voiced their concerns after Aston Villa surged into a 2-0 half-time lead in Sunday's fourth-round tie.
But the mood was transformed after a goal from Walcott and two penalties from Robin van Persie turned the match on its head in just seven second-half minutes.
"That was for the fans," said Walcott afterwards. "They have waited a long time for a great result and we gave them that on Sunday.
"Obviously the fans are entitled to their opinion and we wanted to do it for them in the second half because we weren't good enough [in the first].
"When you are at home you do not want to go 2-0 down, even if it was against the run of play. Villa took their goals well. On the set piece maybe we could have done better, but we are into the hat and we are looking forward to Sunderland or Middlesbrough."
By his own admission Walcott has not been at his best in recent weeks. However, the England international insists that he is his own harshest critic and is working hard to rediscover his best form.
"I just want to play my game and show people what I can do," he said. "I am the best judge of my performance, not anyone else. I wasn’t happy with my last few games but hopefully now I can try to get back to a level I should be at.
"I think it was a good thing that it was the FA Cup [on Sunday], it's totally different to the Premier League. I think we needed a slight break.
"It's a cup competition that we can win, a couple of big teams have gone out in the early stages and if we can come from 2-0 down, hopefully we can beat anybody now. Hopefully we can just show the fans and our team-mates that everyone is ready now and that we can win this."Copyright 2014 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
