Robin van Persie thinks that another Premier League defeat could put an end to Arsenal’s title challenge.
The 25-year-old was speaking after his goal helped secure the Gunners’ first League victory in three games as they came from behind to beat Everton 3-1 at Emirates Stadium.
Arsène Wenger’s side are yet to face any of their traditional title rivals this season but have already tasted defeat twice - against Fulham and Hull. Van Persie suspects that any further blips could be decisive.
“We cannot really afford to lose any more,” said the Dutchman. “Especially at home and also away against some of the so-called smaller teams. The whole squad realise that.
“We still have to play against the big teams and there will be lots of big tests for us on the way. In this league, you do not really have small teams. Just look at Hull City, they are doing fantastic.
“It is really tough, and you have to win against the other teams because you can always lose to sides like Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.”
