Robin van Persie will captain Arsenal at the Carling Cup Final.
The Dutch forward missed the midweek win over Stoke City with a hamstring problem but he is fit to return for Sunday’s showpiece against Birmingham.
And in the absence of Cesc Fabregas, sidelined by a hamstring problem of his own, Van Persie will lead out the Gunners at Wembley.
“The vice-captain, who is Robin van Persie [will be captain],” confirmed Arsène Wenger at his pre-match press conference.
“He is back and I’m delighted. We have a squad who can deal with the number of games we have, we have shown that in the last three months.
“We have belief, confidence, we are committed and we are determined to get over the last hurdle of the Carling Cup and will do absolutely everything to achieve it. That’s what we focus on.”
