Robin van Persie thinks he has ten more years left at the top and believes the next one could be his best yet.
The Dutch forward will be 28 by the time the 2011/12 campaign gets underway and, on the evidence of last season, he is approaching his peak. Van Persie has been hampered by injuries in the past but, since New Year's Day, he has rattled in 18 goals - equalling the record for the second half of an English campaign.
When the new season starts at Newcastle on August 13, Van Persie will look to extend a record he has to himself after scoring in nine consecutive Premier League away games.
As ever the Dutchman's fitness will be an influential factor in Arsenal's success but he thinks he can continue his upward curve.
"I was 27 last year and everyone would think that you have an amazing start to the season and then maybe grow from there," Van Persie told Arsenal.com. "But I had an injury and needed time to get back to fitness.
"The second part of last year, I scored 18 Premier League goals so it's strange. You can't really tell beforehand whether you are going to have your best year because you don't really know what is going to happen. If it goes your way, I do believe that this could be a really good year for me.
"The way I see it is that I am halfway through my career now. I have been playing for ten years and I'd like to play for at least ten more years. Of course I want to win things but winning things doesn't come from out of the blue. I'm just a part of the whole story, it depends on many things."
