Robin van Persie has enjoyed the praise he's received this week - and now he wants to earn more plaudits.

The Arsenal captain produced a match-winning brace against Sunderland last weekend just three weeks after celebrating a century of goals for the Club in front of the Emirates Stadium crowd.

Van Persie is back on home soil this Sunday and another warm welcome is guaranteed. The Dutchman admits he has been humbled by the fans' support.

"It’s nice to hear," he told Arsenal.com. "I read all the comments - I take the fans very, very seriously and I think they’re great.

"It’s wonderful to know people like what you do. I think people can see that I’m passionate about what I am doing and that I love the game, so it’s a big compliment and I love to hear those things.

"But we still have a long way to go and a lot of things to prove – it’s still early in the season so my aim is just to keep things going and move from strength to strength."
