Robin van Persie's opening goal against Sunderland was Arsenal's fastest recorded Premier League goal.

The captain struck after just 29 seconds of Sunday's Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium and went on to score the winner in a vital 2-1 victory.

Van Persie's opener eclipses our previous fastest recorded Premier League goal, scored by Marouane Chamakh after 38 seconds at Wolves on November 11 last year.

However, Gilberto still holds the record for the fastest recorded Arsenal goal. He struck after just 20 seconds of the Champions League win at PSV Eindhoven on September 25, 2002.
