Thierry Henry’s return to Arsenal may have been brief, but he certainly had an impact on Robin van Persie during the short time he was back.

The Arsenal legend this week returned to New York Red Bulls following a short-term arrangement that saw him train with Arsène Wenger’s first-team squad to maintain his fitness ahead of the new MLS season.

Van Persie scored his first hat-trick in an Arsenal shirt on Saturday and, while not going as far as crediting Henry for the treble,  the 27-year-old admits it was great working with him on the training ground over the past few weeks.

“It was fantastic to have him there,” said the Dutchman. “He's a legend, a fantastic guy.

“He did a couple of sessions with us and with the fitness coach. He still looks very good.”
