Van Persie goal brings up Emirates milestone
Robin Van Persie’s 47th-minute header against Plymouth Argyle was the 150th Arsenal goal scored at Emirates Stadium.
The Dutchman’s goal brought up the milestone in the 72nd match at the Gunners’ new home.
Gilberto was the first Arsenal player to score a competitive goal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 19, 2006 after 83 minutes of their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
Between the Brazilian’s strike and the Dutchman’s header, Arsenal have played 6,391 minutes of Emirates Stadium football (including 30 minutes of extra time against Tottenham in the Carling Cup Semi Final on Wednesday, January 31, 2007) averaging one goal every 42.6 minutes.
