Arsenal have made a scintillating start to 2008/09 with four wins from five in the Premier League and a creditable Champions League draw in Kiev. The Gunners’ Carling Cup campaign begins in earnest against Sheffield United tonight and Arsène Wenger will be hoping that his team’s fine form continues on a third front.

The Frenchman will continue his policy of blooding youth prospects in this competition and looks set to name his youngest-ever side. He assessed some of the players likely to be involved when he sat down for an exclusive interview with Arsenal TV Online ahead of the game. Wenger also discussed:

  • transforming the disappointment of last season to hunger in this
  • Kevin Davies’ tackle on Clichy
  • the extent of the Frenchman’s injury
  • the results that kept Arsenal top of the league
  • the chance for fans to see the youngsters in the Carling Cup
  • the possibility of fielding Arsenal’s youngest ever side
  • why Carlos Vela puts a smile on his face
  • the progress of Ramsey, Merida and Wilshere
  • sticking to his Carling Cup policy
