As part of the 'Final Salute' to Highbury each match day has had a designated theme. One of the original list of themes was Supporters Day.
The Club asked various supporters groups for ideas on a theme and REDaction came up with the idea of celebrating Dennis Bergkamp's 11 years at the Club when West Bromwich Albion visit Highbury on Saturday April 15. This was put to the Supporters Forum and they agreed that it was a great idea.
Who can remember where they were back in 1995 when the news that Arsenal, yes Arsenal, had signed one of the truly great football superstars in the world? Since that day Dennis has consistently lit up Highbury with majestic displays that, prior to his arrival, we could only dream of.
The basic principle behind the day is turn our beloved Highbury 'ORANGE' for the day in tribute to Dennis and his homeland.
Events organised for the day include:
- Presentation to Dennis in recognition of 11 years of glory
- Players warming up in orange bibs
- Orange DB10 t-shirts to be distributed around the ground
- A party of Ajax fans attending in Dutch national kit
- Junior Gunners decorating Dennis's Executive Box
- Montage of Dennis's golden moments on Jumbotrons
- An extra Lucky Programme prize - Dennis's signed boots
Hopefully there will be other 'orange' events on the day that are currently being planned. All we need now is for us, the Arsenal supporters, to get involved on the day.
The easiest way to do this is to wear something Orange. If you are lucky enough to get one of the DB10 shirts, wear it - don't just put it under your seat! This is our chance to show Dennis the high regard in which he is held, and remember all the great moments that have made it such a pleasure to have been 'Walking in a Bergkamp Wonderland'.
