Kolo Toure has urged his team-mates to stay motivated and bounce back from their heavy defeat at Anfield on Saturday.

The Ivory Coast defender endured one of the toughest afternoons of his season as Peter Crouch's hat-trick inspired Liverpool to a 4-1 victory. Toure praised the England striker but insists that Arsenal are still focused on pipping Liverpool to third place.

"I feel that Liverpool played better than us," he told Arsenal.com. "They were winning every ball all over the place and that made a big difference. We have beaten them three times this season but we didn't have the response when they went ahead.

"Crouch is a good player. He scored early in the game and after that he was feeling good. He is good in the air, he has good technique and he deserved the three goals. He made it very difficult for us at the back. He can head the ball, he can pass the ball, he's a clever player.

"We lost but it is definitely a big motivation for the players to finish in third place. We are professional and we need to stay motivated because we are a big club and every game is important for us. We did not play well on Saturday and we are very disappointed.

"We need to be really strong all over the pitch. When we win we win together and when we fail we fail together."
