Highbury must be one of the few football stadia to have its very own feature film.
The Arsenal Stadium Mystery was filmed in 1939 and its plot centred on the poisoning of a player called Jack Dyce. It included footage of the final game before the Second World War broke out - Arsenal versus Brentford at Highbury. However the west London side became the Trojans in the film.
The picture, made at Ealing Studios, starred Leslie Banks and Greta Gynt but Arsenal manager George Allison and trainer Tom Whittaker were given small roles as well.
One of Allison’s more famous lines came from his pre-game talk in the dressing room. “They don't play your game,” he said determinedly. “They play the attacking game.”
