Wojciech Szczesny will see a specialist to discover the full extent of the finger injury he picked up against Barcelona and will be out of action for “a while”.
The goalkeeper had to be replaced after just 18 minutes at the Nou Camp on Tuesday and Arsène Wenger revealed on Friday that he not only dislocated a digit but may have damaged tendons.
Szczesny is definitely out of Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Old Trafford and Wenger admits he does not know how long he will be without his No. 1.
With Manuel Almunia the Club’s only recognised fit goalkeeper, the manager says he is looking into the possibility of an emergency loan. But conceded he is yet to contact the Premier League.
“Szczesny has a dislocated finger with a tendon problem,” said Wenger. “We need the assessment of the specialist to see where we go from here.
“He had a scan last night. He is out for a while, for how long? I couldn’t tell you.”Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc. Permission to use quotations from this article is granted subject to appropriate credit being given to www.arsenal.com as the source
