Wojciech Szczesny says the challenging run of fixtures Arsenal face over the next three weeks have come at the perfect time.
The Gunners are set to play six games in 18 days, including key clashes against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the Premier League.
Arsène Wenger’s side come into this period on the back of a six-match unbeaten run, and Szczesny says confidence is high ahead of Sunday’s game against the champions.
“We have been very good against Manchester City at home over the past few years,” the goalkeeper told Arsenal Player.
We have a tough run of fixtures in January, but I believe we can do very well. When you are on a good run like we are, you look forward to every game and you’re not afraid of anyoneWojciech Szczesny
“They are one of the strongest sides in the country but I don't remember the last time we conceded [against them in the league] at the Emirates. So we will be confident and I hope we can repeat last season’s performance - that should give us the result we want.
“We are confident going into every single game. We were quite disappointed not to win at Swansea because we thought we were good enough to go through without the replay, but the most important thing is that we haven't lost for a while now.
“We have a tough run of fixtures in January, but I believe we can do very well. When you are on a good run like we are, you look forward to every game and you’re not afraid of anyone. So I think these fixtures against such strong teams come at a very good time for us.”
While Szczesny is confident Arsenal can keep their run going against Manchester City, he admits it will be a tough to beat his opposite number, Joe Hart.
“I rate him as the best goalkeeper in the world,” he said. “I don’t see a goalkeeper around who is as consistent as him, or better than him.
“I think he has been by far their best player in the Champions League, in fact probably the best player in the Champions League for any team. I rate him massively.”Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc. Permission to use quotations from this article is granted subject to appropriate credit being given to www.arsenal.com as the source
