Wojciech Szczesny believes a positive result in Marseille on Wednesday night can boost Arsenal’s chances in the Premier League.

Arsenal travel to France as they look to extend their impressive run of form in the Champions League this season but they face a tough test - Marseille have won both of their opening two Group F fixtures, including a 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund at Stade Veledrome.

Szczesny is bracing himself for a serious contest and he thinks an away win could have a knock-on effect.

“It is a great game for us and if we can get the three points it will give us a massive confidence boost to help us climb the table in the Premier League,” the Polish international said.

“It's going to be very important - we realise how big the Champions League is.

“We want to be in this competition and stay in it as long as we can - the Champions League matches are the best. You just love playing in this competition.”
