Szczesny - Emirates win irrelevant now

Wojciech Szczesny says Arsenal's victory over Liverpool in November will be irrelevant when the teams meet again on Saturday.

The Gunners are the only side to stop Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge from scoring when they have started together in the Premier League thanks to an impressive 2-0 win at Emirates Stadium.

But Szczesny knows those high standards will need to be met again if Arsenal are to have a chance of doing the double over Brendan Rodgers' team.

"I remember when I played two years ago when we beat them 2-1, I actually managed to get myself an ovation from The Kop, which was one of the nicest things that I've ever experienced in football"

"It [the win at Emirates] won't matter too much if we don't keep them out again, so all I care about is not the game we played three or four months ago, I'm focused on keeping them out again," Szczesny told Arsenal Player.

"Our defensive record recently has been very impressive. I think not only the back four but the whole team has been defending really, really well, so we're confident that we can do it again at such a difficult venue. Then we'll enjoy that double against them even more.

"I think we are on a very good run so we're confident. We know that that it's going to be a very tough game because Anfield is one of the toughest venues in the country but, having said that, we're looking forward to it. I think it's going to be a cracking game."

Szczesny produced one of his finest performances for Arsenal at Anfield in March 2012, making a memorable double save to keep out a Liverpool penalty as Arsene Wenger's side won 2-1.

"I've always said Anfield is the one away ground in England I enjoy the most," said the goalkeeper. "I've played there for the first team… I've also played for the reserves and for the youth team about three or four times and I loved it.

"I've always had good games and at the ground the fans are incredible. I remember when I played two years ago when we beat them 2-1, I actually managed to get myself an ovation from The Kop, which was one of the nicest things that I've ever experienced in football.

"I'm looking forward to it and I hope I can put in a good performance again and enjoy the atmosphere."
