Spalletti - Wenger’s side show tradition

By Declan Taylor

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti believes that Arsène Wenger’s young side already exhibit the “great tradition” of Arsenal.

Speaking ahead of his side’s visit to Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening, Spalletti paid tribute to his opposite number’s ‘project’, stating that Wenger’s youth policy instils player-personality at an early age.

The Italian also revealed that he had kept a close eye on Arsenal’s stalemate with Sunderland and was impressed by the overall performance, despite the lack of goals.

“I have seen in the last match that maybe 10 of the 11 player produced a good performance despite only drawing,” Spalletti said. “They are all in good condition and they have shown a lot of quality – the quality of Arsenal.

“In my opinion Arsenal’s group of players have great tradition. Maybe they are a bit too young but they have a lot of quality. The Club know how to transmit the right behaviour when they wear the shirt.

“It is part of their project to find players young but with lots of talent. From the very start they must show personality because they are playing for big prizes in the same way we should do.”
