Alex Song should re-join the Arsenal squad by Thursday but he still might not make the crucial game with Manchester United on Sunday.
The midfielder saw his Cameroon side surprisingly knocked out of the African Cup of Nations by Egypt on Monday night. He flies back to London in the next couple of days but tournament fatigue could see him miss out this weekend.
"The earliest he could come back is tomorrow," said Wenger. "They have to fly back from Angola to Cameroon and then back to London.
"I believe the earliest they will fly back is today, but we expect him tomorrow or Thursday.
"[As for Sunday] we will see how he comes back. But I must say he looked tired in the game yesterday."
