Alex Song believes that some of the criticism directed at Arsenal earlier this season was harsh.

The Gunners have turned things around since September and are currently on an unbeaten run that stretches for nine matches in all competitions.

Wednesday's win over Borussia Dortmund booked Arsenal's place in the knockout stages of the Champions League - for the 12th consecutive year - and Arsène Wenger's side have made steady progress in the Premier League and Carling Cup too.

Song has urged his team-mates to maintain their momentum and keep their doubters quiet.

"I think maybe some people are very hard on Arsenal. I don’t know why," he said. "But we are just here to try to do the job.

"Today we are happy because we want to show everyone is wrong about us and today we did very well and we are happy. We don’t want to stay in the same situation now and just say everything is working and we’ll just keep on like this. We want to push ourselves to try to look forward.

"When you play for a team like Arsenal you just want to finish all the time at the top of the league. That’s what we try to do. We know we have the Carling Cup coming soon and we just have to try to win every single game. We take it game by game.

"We did well on Wednesday but we need just to rest because we have another game coming soon."
