Player Profile - Bacary Sagna

Ashley Young

Bacary Sagna v Ashley Young
Ashley Young’s career has shifted up another gear this season and he has become a vital component of Martin O’Neil’s fifth-place Aston Villa side. The winger’s searing pace makes him almost unmarkable and his sparkling form this term has brought him four assists and two goals from the left flank. But, if there is one man in the Premier League who can keep up with Young, it is Bacary Sagna. The defender has done a spot of running himself this campaign, completing three of his four dribbles as he continues to offer the Gunners an extra attacking element from his right-back berth.

Player Profile - Denilson

Gareth Barry

Denilson v Gareth Barry
Saturday sees the meeting of two of the most evenly-matched central midfielders in the Premier League this season. The pair have both found the net twice but Denilson has one assist more than the 27-year-old Aston Villa captain. Barry has a superior pass completion rate and his 14 clearances allude to the Villa man’s heightened defensive responsibilities, however the pair are neck-and-neck in the tackling stakes both having won five of their 10 challenges. Barry is known to drift wide to deliver crosses from the left but his accuracy in this department has been slightly disappointing with just two from 14 finding their target.

Player Profile - Theo Walcott

Nicky Shorey

Theo Walcott v Nicky Shorey
Nicky Shorey was one of the shining lights in Reading’s brief flirtation with the Premier League and as such earned himself a summer transfer to Aston Villa after the Royals’ relegation. Usually known for his attacking forays and deadly set-piece delivery, this season Shorey has turned heads with a string of consummate defensive displays. The 27-year-old has won six of his seven tackles and completed 16 clearances but is yet to muster a shot on goal this term.  He will have to call upon all that defensive know-how on Saturday when he meets Theo Walcott. The effervescent wideman has completed 14 dribbles, hit the target 11 times and bagged one goal and one assist this season.
