Sagna - We must have a positive reaction

By Rob Kelly

Bacary Sagna says Arsenal have to react positively to their FA Cup exit and make amends against Tottenham on Sunday.

The French defender was upset with the Gunners’ display at the Stadium of Light, where a Kieran Richardson strike and an own goal by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain consigned them to defeat.

Sagna says the team must now “fight” to ensure there is no repeat performance in the North London derby.

“We have to keep our heads up, work hard and think about the Premier League because we have a derby next weekend against Tottenham,” he told Arsenal Player.

“We need to do it for us and for the fans as well. We have to react. We can’t play like this against Tottenham otherwise we will lose.

“We have one week to get ready for the game, to question ourselves, to work and to talk to each other. We are professional and we have to fight until the end. Personally I want to do it and everyone else wants to do it as well.”

Sagna was delighted with the support from the traveling Arsenal fans at the Stadium of Light and feels the team owe them a performance on Sunday.

“We just want to thank them one more time even if we didn’t get the result. It is not easy for us and for them as well,” he said.

“We are just thankful for the support that they give us and we’ll try to win next weekend.

“We have to look forwards. We are fourth in the Premier League and we can’t let it go like this.”
