Arsenal's new signings are "amazing", according to Bacary Sagna.

The right back knew a thing or two about Marouane Chamakh and Laurent Koscielny before they arrived at Emirates Stadium because, like Sagna, they both shone in France’s Ligue 1.

And on the evidence of the Emirates Cup, Arsène Wenger has made a couple of shrewd purchases.

Former Bordeaux striker Chamakh scored on his home debut and impressed with his powerful running and hold-up play, while Koscielny's quick-thinking and timely interceptions caught the eye against Milan.

The centre back didn’t have a full 90 minutes on Sunday but Sagna has seen enough to convince him that Arsenal will be strengthened by their new recruits.

"The new signings are amazing," said Sagna.

"I knew them both from France and I am not surprised to see them playing as they are. They are very confident and are very settled already which is good for them and the team.

"Chamakh can make the difference because he is a good player, can keep the ball and score great goals. It will be very important to have a player like that in front of goal.

"I will trust him with the ball because he can keep it quite easily and it will give us a chance to come and support him.

"He looks like [Emmanuel] Adebayor – they are both very good in front of goal and it’s a good thing for the team."
