Bacary Sagna is relishing the chance to take on Tottenham’s man of the moment, Gareth Bale.

Of the many personal duels in Saturday’s North London derby arguably the most intriguing will see the in-form right back come up against the left winger who has received rave reviews after an impressive start to the season.

Bale has terrorised defenders both domestically and in Europe: he scored twice and set up a third in a 4-2 win over Blackburn last weekend and turned Inter’s Brazilian star Maicon inside-out in the Champions League at the start of the month.

Sagna is well aware of Bale’s quality but the Frenchman believes he can succeed where others have failed.

“He is in great form but I am not scared of him,” said Sagna. “Not at all.

“I will think about my own game and not about him.

“He is a very good player. He has shown all the world he is a really good player. You need to let him work, he is doing very well at the moment but don’t put pressure on him too early.

“He is only 20 or 21 so he will improve a lot during the next few years. He is one of the most dangerous wingers [in the Premier League].”
