Aaron Ramsey and Denilson are likely to miss the trip to Bolton on Sunday.
The Brazilian was always doubtful because of a rib injury and faces a late fitness test. However the Welshman picked up a thigh problem in Friday's training session.
With Alex Song already away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Arsène Wenger could do without injuries in central midfield. Thankfully Cesc Fabregas is fit for the first time since December 27 due to hamstring trouble.
"Denilson will have a test on Saturday and he is likely to be out," said the manager at Friday's press conference. "Ramsey had a muscular problem today and it is likely to be out too. The injury is high up on his thigh but I think it is short-term.
"I am very short in midfield at the moment so even I am trying to practice at the moment!"
Wenger also took the opportunity to update on another couple of young players.
"Jack Wilshere is still injured," said the Frenchman. "He has gone out to run for the first time today. He could be available next week.
"Meanwhile Nicklas Bendtner will be another two weeks. I'm desperate to get him back but every week he's still two weeks away unfortunately."
