Aaron Ramsey is looking forward to building a better understanding with Jack Wilshere now the two midfielders have put their injury problems behind them.

The Wales international and his English team-mate have endured long spells on the sidelines but they were in tandem on the opening day of the Emirates Cup as Arsenal came from behind to draw 2-2 with Napoli.

"Me and Jack have both been out for long periods of time with injury and we haven't had the opportunity to play with each other that often," Ramsey told the Matchday Show on Arsenal Player.

"Hopefully now we're both back fit we'll have more of an opportunity to play together. We understand each other and we've been training together for a while. I played with Tomas [Rosicky] towards the end of last season and that seemed to work so it's only getting stronger as the season goes on.

"The injury I had takes a while to get over and to get mentally back into it. But I feel really good at the moment. I'm happy with my form and can't wait for the season to get going now to get back and hopefully kick on from where I left off.

"The lads are confident [about the new season]," added Ramsey. "We had a great run-in at the end of last season and we've carried on from where we left off.

β€œEven though it's still pre-season, we want to keep this unbeaten run that we're on. Hopefully we can do that again tomorrow [against Galatasaray] and then against Man City the following week. That will be a good test before the season starts."
