TRIVIA TRIPLE
- Arsenal's first ever league game came against Newcastle United on September 2, 1893. It was a Second Division match which ended in a 2-2 draw. Eleven years later the Magpies were Arsenal's first First Division opponents. However this time the game ended in a 3-0 defeat for the Gunners.
- In December 2001 Newcastle ended a run of 29 games without a win in London with a 3-1 victory at Highbury. It was the last defeat Arsenal suffered that season as they marched to a second Premiership title.
- Newcastle are one of only three teams to have experienced victory over Arsenal more often than defeat. In 162 meetings between the two sides the Magpies have recorded three more wins than the Gunners. The other two Clubs with a better head to head record against us are Manchester United and Liverpool.
