Arsène Wenger has called on the Emirates Stadium crowd to lay off Emmanuel Adebayor on Saturday.
The former Arsenal striker celebrated enthusiastically in front of the visiting supporters when he scored in Manchester City’s 4-2 win at Eastlands earlier this season. As a result, the Togolese front man is widely expected to be a crowd target this weekend.
However at his press conference on Friday, Wenger called for calm.
“We want to keep our line of conduct,” he said. “No matter what happened in the first game, it is important that we have a positive attitude and encourage our players.
“More than ever we will need the crowd to be behind us tomorrow and let's focus on that. I expect everybody to behave well."
