Colorado Rapids
Colorado Rapids remain fifth in the MLS Western Conference after finishing an inconsistent month on a high with victory at the weekend. Gary Smith's side got back to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 home win over Houston Dynamo on Saturday. The Rapids started the month well with a 1-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes thanks to an own goal. Jeff Larentowicz put Arsenal's American partner club in front against Philadelphia Union on August 14, but they couldn’t hold on and the game finished 1-1. Columbus Crew inflicted a 3-1 away defeat a week later meaning this weekend’s victory was key. In their next game they welcome rock-bottom Chivas USA to Dick's Sporting Goods Park on September 4.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai
Hoang Anh Gia Lai have moved up to seventh in the V-League with two impressive victories in a row. Arsenal's Vietnamese partners visited Song Lam Nghe An on August 15, winning the game 2-1. The following Sunday, the Pleiku-based club faced a home match against top-of-the-table TT Ha Noi. The away victory from the previous week clearly gave them confidence as they cruised to a 4-1 victory. The win moves Hoang Anh Gia Lai to within seven points of TT Ha Noi and the top of the V-League.
Bec Tero Sasana
Bec Tero Sasana are still embroiled in a relegation battle at the foot of the Thai Premier League. Having won 2-0 against Police United, Bec Tero suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Chonburi. They then drew 0-0 against relegation rivals Rajnavy Rayong at home in Bangkok. Their scheduled away trip to Police United at the weekend was postponed but on September 12 Bec Tero travel to relegation rivals Rajnavy Rayong in the reverse fixture from last week’s match. They sit five points above the drop zone with eight games remaining.
