Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is happy to play the waiting game while he learns his trade at Emirates Stadium.

The summer signing from Southampton made an electric start to his Arsenal career with goals on his first two starts against Shrewsbury Town and Olympiacos. But he has not featured for the first team since the Carling Cup win over Bolton last month.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been tipped as a star of the future but, at 18, he is perfectly happy to bide his time.

"I signed for Arsenal expecting not to get into the team straight away because this is a massive club with a lot of top-quality players," he told Arsenal Player.

"I've signed a contract which is for a number of years so it's just about being patient for me. It's my first year and I'm not going to get as much game time but I'm learning loads in training and just taking everything I can to develop my game. You can learn so much from the boys in training, even just by watching them.

"Getting appearances along the way will feed me in slowly - there's no rush to push me. Obviously I do want to play but I trust the boss and he knows what's best for me.

"I'll keep working hard and when I do get my chance I need to take it. I'm positive: I'm at Arsenal, I'm only 18 and I wasn't expecting to jump straight into the team."
