Arsenal Football Club is pleased to confirm that the Club’s annual fun run, ‘Be a Gunner. Be a Runner’ will return on Saturday, March 23 in aid of The Arsenal Foundation.
If you’re looking for a New Year challenge, the 10-lap, 6.4 kilometre fun run around Emirates Stadium could be the event for you! Registration for the run will open very soon for all Arsenal fans, keen runners and anyone else who would like to support The Arsenal Foundation and help the Club’s charitable arm continue transforming the lives of young people through a range of education and sport initiatives.
Entry to the race for adults costs £15 and due to the limited number of spaces available, all runners are encouraged to raise at least £100 in sponsorship. Any runner that manages to raise over £500 for the charity will be deemed a ‘Top Gunner’ and will receive a special gold running number on race day. The 2012 event was the most successful to date, with more than 700 adult and junior runners joining forces to raise in excess of £53,000 for charity.
Youngsters aged 14 or under will once again be able to take part in a shorter one or two lap junior race on the day – for more information, visit www.arsenal.com/juniorgunners.
And it’s not just UK-based supporters who can take part - last year, for the first time, we opened the event up to global Gooners and were delighted to see individuals and groups from more than 20 countries worldwide take part in their own organised runs to help spread the message of the Club’s charitable endeavours around the world.
If you’re a non UK-based supporter and would like to get involved in the 2013 event, simply devise a 6.4km route local to where you are – it could be in a park, beach or even a local sports stadium – and email it with your details to email@example.com. All successful applicants will receive a unique race number to wear with pride on the day and can also request official race t-shirts in return for a small donation to The Arsenal Foundation.
All money that is raised from Be a Gunner. Be a Runner 2013 will go towards The Arsenal Foundation, supporting education and sport projects in the UK and overseas that transform the lives of young people.
