Arsène Wenger expects Samir Nasri to sign a new contract in the summer.

The manager says he has spoken to Nasri and his representatives about extending the 23-year-old’s current deal - but that’s as far as it will go until the end of the season.

The gifted midfielder has been one of the Gunners’ outstanding performers this season but Wenger’s immediate concerns lie elsewhere. Namely, concentrating on his side’s Premier League title push.

“We'll sort that out during the summer,” said Wenger. “We have met his agent already but we'll finish the job in the summer.

“[At the moment] we focus on the competition. Anyway, there is still one year to go [on Nasri's contract] in the summer.

“You can reproach me that I'm always confident.”
