Ignasi Miquel says he is ready to fight for first-team opportunities now that Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs are back in full training.

The Spanish defender has filled in at left back for Arsène Wenger's side in recent months in the absence of both Gibbs and Andre Santos.

But with Gibbs back in full training, and Sagna, Thomas Vermaelen and Francis Coquelin also able to cover at left back, Miquel knows the competition for a first-team place will be fierce.

"I know that I have had my chance because of injuries, and I am really happy [to have played]," he told Arsenal.com.

"The injured players were here at the start of the season and they will be back sooner or later, so I just have to fight for [my place] and make sure I am training as well as I can.

"[Gibbs and Sagna] have been part of the team for a long team and they are great players. Obviously with all the injuries that we have had, it is bad for us but [it has allowed] some players to show they are good enough to be in the first team.

"Now these players will have even more competition around them. They are big players for us, but we also have a lot of good players in the squad."
