Vito Mannone says it is essential that Arsenal beat Montpellier in their next Champions League game if they are to progress from Group B.

Goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud gave the Gunners a two-goal lead against Schalke on Tuesday night, before the German side fought back for a draw.

With Olympiacos beating Montpellier, two points now separate three teams and Mannone admits it is going to be a tense end to the group stage.

“It was a really tough game,” the Italian said. “There is a mixed feeling in the dressing room, because we could have won it and we also could have lost it.

“I thought we could get the three points but unfortunately they came back. Probably if we didn't concede that goal at the end of the first half it would have been a different game. But I think it was a good point.

“We need to focus on getting through the group now. We have six more points available to us and the next game is really important - we need to make sure it is a win.”
