after joining newly-promoted Birmingham City until January.
Elsewhere, defender
Matthew Connolly will spend the entire campaign at Championship
club Colchester United while
Kerrea Gilbert and
Jay Simpson will be in League One with Southend United
and Millwall respectively. Promising Mexican striker
Carlos Vela will play his football in Spain with La Liga side
Osasuna.

regular Loan Watch...
Matthew Connolly
Colchester United 3-2 West Bromwich Albion, October 20
Matt Connolly returned to action with Colchester on Saturday as
they recorded their first-ever win over promotion-chasing West
Brom. Kevin Phillips put Albion ahead but Mark Yeates and Kevin
Lisbie replied for the hosts inside 20 minutes. Ishmael Miller
levelled for Albion before the break. Arsenal defender Connolly was
introduced just before the hour, and Yeates duly grabbed his second
and Colchester's winner from the spot 22 minutes from time.
Jay Simpson
Millwall 2-1 Bournemouth, October 20
Jay Simpson played for 72 minutes as Millwall moved out of the
relegation zone in style. Goals from the on-loan pair of Jamie
O'Hara and Will Hoskins, their firsts for the club, secured a
2-1 win over Bournemouth. The Lions had enjoyed the majority of the
play and deservedly took the lead on 33 minutes before Hoskins
scored 10 minutes after the restart. Lee Bradbury scored for the
visitors in stoppage time but it proved a mere consolation.
Carlos Vela
Almeria 2-0 Osasuna, October 21
Carlos Vela was introduced with 20 minutes remaining as but could
do little prevent 10-man Osasuna slumping to a 2-0 defeat at
Almeria. The visitors had goalkeeper Juan Elia sent off after
conceding a penalty shortly after the break; Felipe Melo converted
from the spot. The points were wrapped up by Alvaro Negredo on 70
minutes. Osasuna remain 14th in La Liga.
Johan Djourou
Manchester City 1-0 Birmingham City, October 20
Johan Djourou did not play for Birmingham as they went down 1-0 at
the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday. The game's only
goal came eight minutes before the break, but Elano's sweet
strike was shrouded in controversy. Blues manager Steve Bruce
believes former Gunner Fabrice Muamba had been fouled in the
build-up to the goal, but referee Mike Dean allowed play to
continue. It was City's sixth straight home win, but the result
leaves Birmingham perilously close to the drop-zone in 14th
place.
Kerrea Gilbert
Walsall 0-2 Southend United, October 20
Kerrea Gilbert was once again left out for Southend as the
Shrimpers moved into the automatic promotion places with a 2-0 win
at Walsall. Goals from Peter Clarke and another loanee Leon Clarke
wrapped up the points either side of half-time to ensure a sixth
win from eight for Steve Tilson's men.
