Fabrice Muamba, Sebastian Larsson, Nicklas Bendtner
Birmingham City 1-0 Shrewsbury, August 22
Sebastian Larsson was Birmingham's match-winner for the second time in four days as the Blues beat Shrewsbury to reach the second round of the Carling Cup. The on-loan Arsenal midfielder fired past keeper Chris MacKenzie with seven minutes left after being set up by fellow Gunner Nicklas Bendtner. The Danish striker came off the bench after 66 minutes while Fabrice Muamba played the first 81 minutes before being substituted.

Kerrea Gilbert
Cardiff City 0-2 Barnet, August 22
Kerrea Gilbert was not involved as Cardiff crashed out of the Carling Cup after a 2-0 home defeat against League Two side Barnet. Tresor Kandol was the Bees' hero, scoring in either half against the Championship pace-setters.

Arturo Lupoli
Stockport County 0-1 Derby County, August 22
Arturo Lupoli made his second loan appearance for Derby County as the Rams beat Stockport to reach the second round of the Carling Cup. The Italian striker came off the bench after 62 minutes. Former Gunner Ryan Smith set up the winning goal with a low drive which Stockport keeper could only parry to Derby captain Michael Johnson, who tapped in from close range.

Vito Mannone
Blackpool 2-2 Barnsley, August 22
Vito Mannone kept goal as Barnsley beat Blackpool 4-2 on penalties in the Carling Cup after a 2-2 draw in their first-round tie. Robbie Williams and Martin Devaney struck for Barnsley in normal time but Scott Vernon equalised twice to take the tie into extra time and then penalties. Michael Jackson and Keigan Parker missed from the spot as the Tykes went through.
