The January transfer window saw more Arsenal starlets go out on loan. Jay Simpson moved to West Brom and Reserve team captain Gavin Hoyte has joined Watford. Fellow reserve-teamers Rui Fonte, Henri Lansbury and Paul Rodgers have also departed for Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe United and Northampton Town respectively.

They join the existing loanees Armand Traore, Nacer Barazite, James Dunne, Kerrea Gilbert and Abu Ogogo away with other English clubs.

Overseas, the Gunners have players in Italy, Spain and Holland. Philippe Senderos, who has made 115 appearances for the Gunners, is spending the season with Serie A giants AC Milan. Pedro Botelho is away with Spanish Segunda Division outfit UD Salamanca while Vincent van den Berg is out on his second loan spell in as many years, this time with FC Zwolle of the Eerste Divisie in Holland.

Both sides hit the woodwork in a frantic first half before Gary Teale’s superb strike handed the visitors the lead two minutes before the break. In-form marksman Rob Hulse grabbed a brace in the second half to secure the Rams’ biggest victory on the road this season.

Philippe was an unused substitute as AC Milan lost valuable ground on Serie A leaders Inter Milan after drawing with rock-bottom Reggina. The visitors took the lead after 33 minutes through Carlos Carmona before Kaka drew the Rossoneri level from the spot after 67 minutes.

Pedro completed all 90 minutes as Salamanca thrashed lowly Sevilla II. Salvo Sevilla got the hosts on their way with a brace in the first 15 minutes. Quique Martin added a third and fourth either side of half time before Sergio Rodri struck a minute before the hour-mark. Miku added Los Charros’ sixth of the match 13 minutes from time.
