Chuks Aneke was on target but could not prevent Crewe from defeat at home to Brentford. A brace from Alan Judge, plus Adam Forshaw's long-range howitzer, put the league leaders in control before Aneke pulled a goal back from the spot with 20 minutes to play.

Daniel Boateng made a brief Hibernian debut as Terry Butcher's side overcame Ross County at Easter Road. Sam Stanton and Tom Taiwo strikes either side of the break put the hosts in command before Richie Brittain halved the deficit on the hour. Boateng was introduced with three minutes to play.

Johan Djourou was an unused substitute in Hamburg's defeat at Braunschweig. Pierre-Michel Lasogga gave the visitors the lead but Dominick Kumbela struck twice in 10 minutes to turn the game on its head. Ivo Ilicevic equalised but Kumbela completed his hat-trick and Jan Hochscheidt scored in stoppage time to consign Bert van Marwijk's side to their seventh straight league loss.
