Freddie Ljungberg has been drafted into the Arsenal squad for the season's opener against Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium.

Arsène Wenger admits the Swedish midfielder has not fully recovered from his ankle knock but injuries elsewhere have forced his hand. Tomas Rosicky has succumbed to a recurrence of the slight groin problem he picked up at Dinamo Zagreb while Jose Antonio Reyes will be absent with an identical ailment. Ashley Cole will not figure but Thierry Henry is in the squad despite playing a full game for France in midweek.

"Injury-wise we have Senderos [shoulder], Clichy [foot], Diaby [ankle], Rosicky, Reyes, and Lauren [knee] all out," said Wenger. "Freddie is in the squad. We rushed him back a little bit because we had so many other problems. Cole is not in the squad because his situation is not clear on the transfer side."

It was reported that Jens Lehmann was in hospital after his midweek international because of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). However he seemed to recover quickly.

"Jens is perfectly all right," said Wenger. "I heard about this incident, but he did not say a word about it to me. He is fine."

Looking ahead, Rosicky and Reyes will not be fit enough to return for Wednesday's Champions League tie against Dinamo Zagreb.
