Lauren began his comeback from injury in a friendly played behind-closed-doors at London Colney on Friday afternoon.

The right back has been out almost 11 months with a serious knee injury that, at one point, may have threatened his career. So, having last played for Arsenal on January 21 against Wigan in the Carling Cup Semi-Final second leg, his 55 minutes against Hoang Anh Gia Lai from Vietnam was very welcome.

The 29-year-old captained an Arsenal side comprising mostly Reserves plus Denilson and Alex Song. Nacer Barazite gave the home team the lead in the 35th minute. Viet Anit replied for the visitors five minutes before the break.

Lauren showed no ill effects when he was substituted 10 minutes after the restart. Three minutes later Rhys Murphy restored Arsenal's lead. However, just past the hour, John struck a second equaliser for the V League side from Pleiku.
