Arsenal's trio of England stars were left heartbroken after Germany overpowered the Three Lions in the European Championship Final.
Captain Faye White played the full game in a protective mask after dislocating and fracturing a cheekbone in the Quarter-Finals. Katie Chapman started in midfield before being withdrawn four minutes from time, while Laura Bassett was an unused substitute.
Birgit Prinz fired Germany ahead before Melanie Behringer's spectacular 40-yard effort left England with an uphill task. Former Gunner Karen Carney pulled one back before the interval but Kim Kulig added a third for Germany early in the second half.
Another former Arsenal star, Kelly Smith, gave England renewed hope with a fine strike after 55 minutes but Germany stepped up a gear in the closing stages and ran out comfortable winners thanks to two goals from Inka Grings and a long-range effort from Prinz.Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
