Carl Jenkinson believes the positive spirit in the Arsenal dressing room will see them through the departure of Cesc Fabregas.

The young defender has only been at the Club since June but has already seen enough togetherness in the squad to be confident that they can deal with the loss of their captain.

Arsène Wenger’s side face Udinese on Tuesday, in what will be their first game since Fabregas left for Barcelona, and Jenkinson says the players are fully focused on the task in hand.

“In terms of the team spirit we are a very united group and are very positive about the season ahead and the games coming up,” he said.

“In one way you could say it has affected us because we have lost a friend but we are very positive about things in general.

“Cesc was our captain, a great player and a friend so in that sense it is sad to see him go.”
