Carl Jenkinson believes he has matured a great deal since making his Premier League debut against Liverpool in August.

The 20-year-old full back played the full 90 minutes against Kenny Dalglish’s men as the 10-man Gunners were beaten 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.

Jenkinson has since gone on to establish himself as an important squad member and he admits that the past six months have changed him.

“I feel like I have matured a lot on the football field,” he told Arsenal Player. “As a young player it is only natural to feel that the more minutes you get under your belt, the more you will adapt and show what you can do.

“That game at home to Liverpool seems like a long time ago now. It was a disappointing day all around.

“It was a game I didn't think we deserved to lose. I am as hungry as anybody to make sure we turn the tables at their place. I am really looking forward to Saturday and getting out there at Anfield.”

Jenkinson grew up as a passionate Arsenal fan and he says he is relishing the chance to play at a ground that holds a lot of significance for the Club.

“Anfield is known around the world for its fans and I am sure it is going to be a fantastic stadium to play in,” he said.

“It is a very traditional stadium with a lot of history to it and Arsenal have a lot of good memories there, like winning the title in 1989. It will be fantastic for me to get out there and play.”
