Carl Jenkinson is convinced he will get "better and better" after making the adjustment to Premier League football.
The 20-year-old was playing in the Conference this time last year while on loan from Charlton Athletic, before leaving the League One club for Arsenal last summer.
Jenkinson had to deal with a steep learning curve after leaping through the divisions and he admits that he needed time to adapt. But as the right back prepares to return from injury, he expects to go from strength to strength.
"I had a transitional stage, you could say, because it takes time to get used to the top level," Jenkinson told Arsenal.com. "That is obviously natural, the quality between the Premier League and League One.
"If you make a mistake in the Premier League, nine times out of 10 you get punished, but I feel like I have adjusted to it now though, in the sense that I had one or two games early doors that I could have done better in. Since then I think I have adjusted to it and shown people what I can do.
"Now I feel that stage for me is over and I'm only going to get better and better."
Jenkinson was an Arsenal fan long before he became an Arsenal player and he met some of his fellow supporters during a members' screening of the Sunderland game at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
"I think that is one thing this club has, fantastic fans," said Jenkinson.
"When you've been injured for a long time it is easy to think you have been forgotten about, but to go out there, do a Q&A and have that response is just fantastic. It really does lift you.
"The last six months have been a dream come true for me because I have always wanted to play at this level, and more importantly, for this football club.
"There have been ups and downs but overall it has been a positive experience for me. I feel that I have learnt so much and have improved as a player, and I feel I'm at the right place to go and push my game to another level."
