on home form…
I don't think anybody particularly speaks about it but you always want to make your home ground a fortress. You want people coming to the Emirates and fearing playing there - I think to be honest they do that. That helps us as well because a lot of teams sit back and we can play our football. You want people to come to your home ground and be scared of you. We've been doing quite well lately and grinding out some good results at home.

on his opportunity at right-back…

I can't really explain it. It's not very nice for you to get an opportunity come along because of an injury - Bac's a good friend of mine. You take opportunities when they came but it's sad for Bac to have such a bad injury. I just wish him all the best and that he recovers as soon as possible. But from my point of view I've got a chance now and that's a good thing for me. I've just got to take my chances and do the best in every game I play. I want to impress the boss and just do well for the team to make sure we keep getting results.

on his recent injury…

It was really frustrating because I have a chance here. I know it's only been a short amount of time - only two games - but they were two games I could have played for Arsenal. It's frustrating to miss games I know I would have had a good chance of playing in. It's a part of football, I understand that, so you just have to get on with it.

on his progress…

Playing with the sort of players I train with every day just brings you on naturally. You're always going to get better. I feel that technically I have improved quite a lot and you get a lot of time with Tony Colbert and Marcus Svensson, the two fitness coaches. My stamina and fitness was always a good part of my game but I think I've even built on that now as well.

I feel fitter and stronger and I think I am improving. I know I have a lot more to improve but I feel I am doing that. I feel like I've come on but I know there's a lot more for people to see of me and I know there's a lot more I can get out of myself as well.

on being thrown in at the deep end…
You can look at it both ways. Obviously a lot of people have said to me that I've been thrown in at the deep end. Some of the games I've played in have been tough and there's been a couple of incredibly disappointing results. But at the same time they were really good experiences for me and I think that is only going to bode well for the future.

I think obviously you have downs in your career and bad games but I think it's how you bounce back from that. I think I've come back from it and I think I'm doing it a lot better now. I think I've learnt a lot from those games. At the end of the day I realise I'm playing for Arsenal - I want to play in those games. OK, the first couple maybe haven't gone as I'd have liked them to but I'll learn from those and they will only make me stronger in the future.

on Robin van Persie…
He's just sensational. It's difficult to describe what he does and what he brings to the team, he's just world class. Football-wise he's brilliant and as a captain he's just the same, even for the younger players like me. He's Robin van Persie and he's got a lot of international caps under his belt but he's still got time for the younger players - he wants to talk to us and help us improve.

That's a really good thing for a young player to have such a great player helping us and trying to bring us along. Before games when I've felt a bit nervous it's been nice to have his arm around your shoulder, giving you little tips helping you to relax. He's been brilliant for us on and off the pitch.

on Thomas Vermaelen…

He's another fantastic player. He brings so much - he's aggressive, he's strong, he's a leader and we need all those we can in the team. It's great to have him back and hopefully he will be playing regularly again soon.

on the Carling Cup youngsters…

They all did really well. Francis and Emmanuel both look really good when they play in midfield together. Nico did really well going forward and Ryo came on and obviously just injected that bit of pace and trickery. it was a great result when you look at the team Bolton had out, it was a strong side. It was a great result and a great performance.

on Ju Young Park…
He's absolutely clinical in front of goal. If you put him there he'll finish all day long. What more can I say? That's what all strikers are there to do, and he's brilliant at that. He showed the other night what he can do and I'm sure he'll continue to do that.
