Sixteen members of the Arsenal first-team squad were called up by their countries for international friendlies this week. Here's a digest of all the games featuring the Gunners.

Bacary Sagna and Samir Nasri were instrumental in France’s 2-1 win over England on Wednesday night. Nasri dictated play from midfield and Sagna superbly set up his side’s second on a comfortable night for Laurent Blanc’s team at Wembley. Karim Benzema opened the scoring after 16 minutes when he played a neat one-two with Florent Malouda inside the area before drilling a low shot past Ben Foster at his near post. Nasri then began to control the pace of the game in midfield along with Mathieu Valbuena as Les Bleus went into half time in front. Sagna then created the second goal for Valbuena on 55 minutes when he crossed brilliantly for the midfielder to slot home from 12 yards. Sagna was substituted with just three minutes to go as France ran down the clock after Peter Crouch’s consolation a minute earlier. Gael Clichy was an unused substitute.

Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs played 45 and 72 minutes respectively for England as they lost 2-1 against France on Wednesday. Gibbs impressed at left back on his first start for his country and came up against the overlapping Bacary Sagna on numerous occasions. Walcott struggled to get into the game as England went down to an impressive France side.

Cesc Fabregas came on as a half-time substitute for Spain as the world champions suffered a 4-0 defeat against Portugal on Wednesday. Fabregas came on with the score at 1-0 before Helder Postiga netted a brace and Hugo Almeida added a fourth on a disappointing night for Vicente del Bosque’s side in Lisbon.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Morocco, November 17
Marouane Chamakh opened the scoring for Morocco as they drew 1-1 with Northern Ireland on Wednesday. The Arsenal man fortuitously put his side ahead ten minutes into the second half before being substituted with 19 minutes remaining. Rory Patterson equalised four minutes from time and the game in Belfast ended all-square.

Robin van Persie came on as a half-time substitute for Holland as they beat Turkey 1-0 on Wednesday. Klass Jan Huntelaar scored the winner seven minutes after the break when he was played through and dinked the ball over goalkeeper Volkan Demirel.

Johan Djourou played the full 90 minutes on his return to the Switzerland side as they drew 2-2 with Ukraine on Wednesday. The Swiss twice lead through the prolific Alex Frei though Aleksandr Aliyev and then Yevhen Konoplyanka equalised for Ukraine.

Lukasz Fabianski played the full 90 minutes for Poland as they beat Ivory Coast 3-1 in Poznan on Wednesday. Robert Lewandowski put Franciszek Smuda’s side ahead after 19 minutes before Gervinho equalised on the stroke of half time. Second-half goals from Ludovic Obraniak and Lewandowski’s second gave Poland the win.

Henri Lansbury incredibly ended up playing in goal for England Under-21s as they lost 2-0 against Germany on Tuesday. Half-time substitute goalkeeper Jason Steele was sent off after 58 minutes when he conceded a penalty for bringing down Boris Vukcevic and Lansbury was the man given the gloves for the final half an hour. His first task was to face Cenk Tosun’s penalty and although that was scored he stood firm and looked assured when Germany tried to pepper his goal when in range. The Arsenal man even made a fine point-blank save to tip over a German header and also held a six-yard volley from Max Beister.
