Twelve Gunners have been selected in preliminary national squads for the World Cup and are set to represent their countries in pre-tournament friendlies over the next three weeks.
They will each be fighting for a place in their national teams' final 23-man squads and Arsenal.com will be keeping a very close eye on their progress between now and June 1, when we will bring you full details of who has booked a place on the plane to South Africa.

William Gallas scored France's equaliser as they drew 1-1 with Tunisia on Sunday. All four Arsenal players in Raymond Domenech's squad were involved in the friendly, with Bacary Sagna starting in defence alongside Gallas. Issam Jemaa put the hosts ahead six minutes in but shortly after the hour Gallas connected with Yoann Gourcuff's free-kick to head in the equaliser. Gael Clichy and Abou Diaby were both introduced as second-half substitutes.

Theo Walcott started England's final friendly before the World Cup as they beat Japan 2-1 in Austria on Sunday. The 21-year-old played on the right side of midfield for Fabio Capello's side but was withdrawn at half-time as the Three Lions boss made five changes. Japan went ahead seven minutes in when Marcus Tanaka struck from inside the area but two second-half own goals ensure victory for England. Takana deflected Joe Cole's cross into the net before Yuji Nakazawa turned the ball into his own net.

Paraguay 2-2 Ivory Coast

Emmanuel Eboue started for Ivory Coast as they drew 2-2 with Paraguay on Sunday. Sven-Goran Eriksson's side went two goals ahead thanks to second-half strikes from Didier Drogba and Souleymane Bamba. However, efforts from Lucas Barrios and Aureliano Torres in the final 15 minutes meant the game ended level. The Ivorians play Japan on Friday in their final friendly before the World Cup.

Mexico 5-1 Gambia

Carlos Vela was in the starting XI as Mexico put five past Gambia in a friendly match in Germany. Javier Hernandez opened the scoring after 17 minutes and added a second shortly after half time. Adolfo Bautista made it 3-0 before Ebrima Sohna pulled one back for the African nation. Bautista then completed his brace and Alberto Medina made it 5-1 with 10 minutes remaining.

Slovakia 1-1 Cameroon

Alex Song played 85 minutes for Cameroon in a 1-1 draw with Slovakia on Saturday. The game took place in Austria and Eyong Takang Enoh secured the draw for the Indomitable Lions with an 84th-minute equaliser after Kamil Kopunek had given Slovakia an early lead. Cameroon coach Paul Le Guen has since named his 23-man squad, which includes Alex Song.
