Midfielder Conor Henderson (20) and forward Sanchez Watt (20) have both extended their contracts with the Club.

Henderson was a regular for the Reserves last season with 13 appearances. He also secured a debut for the first team in 2010/11, playing the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s 5-0 FA Cup victory over Leyton Orient at Emirates Stadium.

The Republic of Ireland youth international made further strides towards the senior side over the summer, when he was part of Arsène Wenger’s squad for the pre-season trip to Germany.  Unfortunately a knee injury, incurred in the final moments of the win in Cologne, has seen him sidelined so far this term. But Conor has been working hard with the Club’s Medical Team and is progressing well.

Watt has been prolific for Neil Banfield’s second string this season, with five goals in six appearances to date, and his good form earned him a place in the first team squad for the Carling Cup Third Round tie with Shrewsbury Town in September.

The London-born striker, who joined Arsenal aged just eight, rose through the Academy ranks to become part of the 2009/10 FA Youth Cup and Premier Academy ‘double’ winning team.  He scored on his debut for the first team that term too, in a 2-0 Carling Cup win over West Bromwich Albion, going onto make three appearances in the competition.

Watt’s young career has also taken in loan spells with Southend United and Leeds United, the second of which brought him back to Emirates Stadium for an FA Cup third round tie with the Gunners last season.

Arsenal looks forward to the continued progression of both players at the Club.
