GunnersGaming by Betsson, Arsenal’s Official Betting Partner, give us the rundown on some of the markets on offer ahead of Saturday’s match against Wigan...
Saturday sees the Gunners make the trip north to take on a Wigan side that find themselves perilously perched at the wrong end of the table. The Latics have managed just nine points so far this season and only two wins. However, with four of those points having come in their last two games they will be hoping that they have begun to turn a corner.
Arsenal, on the other hand, head into the game on the back of Tuesday night’s elimination from the Carling Cup and a disappointing home draw with Fulham - so it is vital that the Arsène Wenger’s side return to winning ways with a confidence-boosting display.
Last year the aggregate score over the three games was a resounding 7-2. Crucially, however, both those goals were conceded in the away fixture as Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw. In fact, Wigan has not been the most happy of hunting grounds in recent years with late goals haunting Arsenal in both of their last visits. The Latics are 2/1 (3.05) to score last again. Victor Moses is their danger man and at 4/1 (5.0) to find the net, Arsenal’s defence will not want to allow him too much space.
With the Gunners having rested a number of players on Tuesday and having the luxury of not requiring points from their upcoming trip to Greece, Wenger will be expecting a dominant and focused display full of energy. Back Arsenal to do just that by winning and keeping a clean sheet, available at 8/5 (2.6). Or perhaps a great value 27/5 (6.45) for a 2-0 win?
Robin van Persie looks set for a return to the side and will be hoping to find the net again, having fired a rare blank against Fulham last weekend. Backing him to score in an Arsenal win is available at 9/10 (1.9). Thomas Vermaelen scored at both ends last week so why not back him to continue his scoring form with the first goal on Saturday priced at a rewarding 14/1 (15.0)?
