GunnersGaming by Betsson, Arsenal’s Official Betting Partner, give us the rundown on some of the markets on offer ahead of Saturday’s match against QPR...
Arsenal may have missed a great chance to move up the table against Wolves on Tuesday, but they will still be hopeful of finishing 2011 on a positive note.
While the midweek result was disappointing, Arsène Wenger's side will still enter the game full of confidence against a QPR side that has failed to win any of their six games in a tough Christmas period. Rangers find themselves just three points above the relegation zone, having picked up just 10 points from a possible 27 away from home so far this season. The west-London outfit also have just one win in their last 12 visits to Arsenal.
Wenger will certainly be hoping that his side are not distracted by the possible return of former hero Thierry Henry and can find a quick return to winning ways. Back them to do so at 2/7 (1.29). Interestingly, the Gunners have scored two goals in a match only once in their last five games, so there looks to be good value in backing them to end that run with a win by two or more at 9/14 (1.65)
Gervinho scored in the draw with Wolves and will be hoping to continue that form before he leaves for the African Cup of Nations. Back him to score at 3/2 (2.5) But while he may be still be finding his consistent scoring boots, captain Robin van Persie has had an unbelievable 2011. The Dutchman will be hoping that he can get the hat-trick he needs to break Alan Shearer’s record for Premier League strikes in a calendar year - get that at an attractive 12/1 (13.0). Just by finding the net he will break Henry’s record, and he is available at 2/5 (1.41) to do just that.
QPR have industrious forward Jamie Mackie among their ranks, a player who has bounced back from a double leg break last season to establish himself as a real threat in the Premier League. He is an outside bet to find the score sheet at 32/5 (7.45)
Arsenal will be determined to grab all three points, and while the fans might be hoping for a 3-0 at 49/10 (5.95), perhaps 2-1 at 19/2 (10.5) represents the best value.
